THE HERRING BLOG - thoughts on news, politics, and life in mississippi
Jim, you should start a new life with writing book reviews. I have not yet read the Fall of the House of Zeus (hope to get it for Christmas) but I did read King of Torts, and will use your review as a basis for comparison. Frankly, I was a little disappointed with King of Torts as I did not think it included much that was not already published, so I look forward to Wilkie`s account. In any event, I, like many others, have been fascinated with the events that inspired these two books. Perhaps it epitomizes the fatal flaw that lives within us all. Jackie Pierce

Jim Herring's Blog
Jim Herring's Blog Jim, you have said good things, but has the Republican Party (or rather the people who are Republicans) learned from past mistakes? I think I remember former elections where people like me expected the Republicans to make a difference. I am nervous about following this party again. But where to go? I want a country with leaders who are experienced in public service and who encourage both fiscal and social morality.

Jim, too bad that our two Democratic congressmen were missing in action in the most important fight of our time. It will be interesting to see how they handle their campaign to keep their seat come next election.

THE HERRING BLOG - thoughts on news, politics, and life in mississippi If Chairman Steele does not understand the crisis that we are in, then he does need to be fired. We ordinary people will follow a good leader, but we will not rally around one who believes that victory is too difficult. Perhaps Mr. Steele is too wrapped up in the same traditional politics and attitudes that has led us to this point. The people, Jim, are restless, hungry, impatient, and angry.

THE HERRING BLOG - thoughts on news, politics, and life in mississippi Jim, you are so right. We (people like me) must have confidence in leadership. Jackie Pierce

THE HERRING BLOG - thoughts on news, politics, and life in mississippi
THE HERRING BLOG - thoughts on news, politics, and life in mississippi Jim, I thought when I heard Brit Hume express his belief on the path to redemption by Tiger Woods that the firestorm would erupt. It is rewarding, however, to hear someone in the media say what I believe is true: that spiritual redemption does not come easy but if one seeks it, he can find it through the cross. Jackie
